In this lesson our students learn about the legendary Siege of Rome in 508 BCE. Rome had just expelled their king and become a Republic one year before in 509 BCE. They now fight the Etruscans of Clusium and their King Lars Porsena who wish to return the evil King Tarquin Superbus (The Proud) to the throne of Rome. The Romans however, have sworn to never again be ruled by a King! The heroes Horatius Cocles and Gaius Mucius risk their lives for the glory, honor and survival of the Roman Republic!
