September 12, 2021When Edward VI (The Boy King) became King of England in 1547 he was only 9 years old! As such, he had a group of advisors that helped him rule the country. Chief among these advisors was his Uncle, Edward Seymour The Duke of Somerset. Edward Seymour was given the title of “Lord Protector” which essentially gave him the power of a King. However, Seymour was extremely unpopular, as he did not like to share power, and his poor leadership skills led to the collapse of the English economy.
